Since I’ve been on a break for a month now, it’s somehow fitting that I come back to the site with something you’d usually see in a commercial break. This video marks the third collaboration between house-favourite filmmakers Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola.
Anderson & Coppola share a lot of similar sensibilities: a love for the 1960s, Europe, and geeky technology. Anderson’s films are among my all-time favourites, and Coppola’s one movie as director — 2001’s CQ — remains one of the best love letters to films like Barbarella and Danger Diabolik out there.
So it’s with a great deal of glee that I greet their 60 second spot for Stella Artois. It looks, feels and plays exactly like what you’d expect a Anderson & Coppola joint directorial effort to be — and that’s just perfect, in my book.
